Muslim leaders in the U.S. accuse FBI agents of entrapping youths
Revelations of FBI informants in Muslim centers across the US are becoming more and more familiar. One case involved the Islamic Center of Irvine, California where an informant publicly stated that he was trained by the FBI to push Muslims to agree to commit violent acts.
Many times the FBI works together with mosques like the one here in Falls Church, Virginia. But according to its Imam, the relationship is not always without friction.
In two recent cases, two men were provided with fake explosives to carry out attacks against Americans. Somali-born Mohamed Osman Mohamud reportedly attempted to detonate a bomb at a Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Oregon in November while last month Antonio Martinez of Baltimore of Maryland allegedly planned a similar attack on a military recruiting base.
According to ElSayed:
Though the FBI did not give an interview, they had this to say in a statement: “The FBI does not investigate mosques or other houses of worship…the FBI investigates individuals to determine whether they are engaged in or plotting criminal or terrorist acts.”
In response, ElSayed had this to say:
In regards to the FBI spying on Muslims, ElSeyed says it will end when certain conditions are met: Until then, relations between the FBI and Muslim communities in the United States will remain fragile.
